For the first time since she wheedled her way into becoming a hunter apprentice, Lydia was wandering around in the woods again. She had taken one of the nets she had made along with her dagger and staff; she had learned by experience not having such things was a bad idea. The sun shone emerald green through the fluttering green leaves on the trees, the dappled shade pleasantly cool after the heat. Lydia smiled slightly, glad to have some time to breath, and to listen to the sounds of the earth about her.

A screech is heard from above you in the treetops, and the branches are rustling. Two creatures are obviously fighting up there- several feathers are slowly dropping down onto the grass. Snarls and growls are heard. The tree next to you is an easy climb- investigate it?

Hearing the noise of a couple of creatures in the branches above, Lydia slowly turned to the tree beside her, her eyes staring up at the ruffling leaves and gliding feathers. Discovering that the tree was strong and large with a good many limbs, and she curious about what she would find, Lydia stepped up into the tree and mounted the branches. Her fingers trembled slightly as she made her way up the tree, exited at the prospect of a little adventure.

When Lydia got to the top, she could see a Winged Serp and a Wiji fighting. The Wiji had been ripping out the feathers from the Winged Serps wings, and the snake was slowly losing. It was much bigger than the cat-sized creature, but was dimwitted, whereas the Wiji was smart and fast. The Wiji was lunging at the Serp to finish it off, but the Winged Serp lunged back at it, fangs beared- if either of them were hit, it would surely kill them, because the poison from the Winged Serp would spread to the Wiji and kill it within the hour. Interfere, or watch to see what happens?

Lydia's hand flew to her net, as her feet found firmer footing. Her hand flew automatically to her net, thinking she could keep both of the creatures alive. Lydia twisted it deftly over her head in one practiced movement drummed into her head by several training sessions, then let the net fly, sighing with relief as the large rope net made its way toward the pair; she didn't want either of the two dead.

The Winged Serp and Wiji both hesitated, glancing at the net, and let out squeals as they were caught. Neither of them could move once inside, but the Winged Serp managed to bite a small peice off and slither quietly through it, getting outside the net, whereas the Wiji couldn't fit through. The winged serp let out a hiss and lunged for the helpless cat-like creature, fangs out.

With a hiss of annoyance as her net was ripped open, Lydia pointed her elemental staff at the Wiji entangled in the net, urging the winds to pick the entangled creature up and bring it to her and away from the Winged Serp. A tiny smile flickered across her face though, as she realized at least this time she was prepared.

The Winged Serp let out a shriek as it's easy prey was flown away from it, and it's fangs peirced into the bark of the tree. He tried to pull them out but found himself unable to. The snake thrashed against the bark, venom and hisses erupting from him, and finally he sank down, hanging off of the branch by his mouth, unable to let go- unless he wanted his only set of weapons painfully torn away from him. The Wiji let out a small cry and fell softly at Lydia's feet, balancing on the bark and trying not to fall off in the net it was in, it's small tail curled down between it's legs.

Yes... Got it away from the Serp. Lydia told herself happily as she gently picked up the Wiji wrapped in the net, carefully holding it in one arm as she made her way down the tree. She planned to be right back up to the Serp in a matter of seconds, hoping to capture it too before it got unstuck. She wracked her brain for information about Wiji, and desiding they might be able to communicate telepathicly, she desided to try and speek to it, as she lowered herself to the ground, back to the tree. "What happened up there? With the Serp and all?" Her voice was softer than that she would use with a human, she felt more at home with creatures.
