Lydia lounged on the shore of Tique Lake, running a large smooth stone from one hand to another. Safe in its sheath, as always, was her dagger, and her elemental staff rested at her side. Usually, she would have liked a more exiting way to spend her day, but her brain was hazy from the simple tasks that made up the pure basics of hunter life. This was her break, a short vacation to get away from it all again, and she was spending her time in this serene spot, beneath the sweeping boughs of a weeping willow tree. Occasionally, she threw a glance back over her shoulder, half hoping that she could get a chance to try out the magical abilities of her staff on someone or something.

Beside her, a purple colored crab with some odd spikes coming out of it's back and pincers stared at her. It blinked two rather large eyes, and then with immense speed burrowed under the earth. Then, suddenly, a large pincer popped out of the ground and pinched the hunter right on the rear before a bubbling in the sand occured and the crab-like thing vanished under the ground, searching for another spot in which it can emerge.

With a cry of suprize and pain, Lydia sprang to her feet, staff in hand. Angrily throwing down the rock she had been holding, her eyes flickered over the sand to find the owner of the purple claw. Seeing the rippling sand, where the crab had dove underground, Lydia willed her elemental staff to send of gust of wind to blow the top layers of sand around her into the water hoping to expose the crab, wondering what the little beast was worth, as she had not caught a good glimpse of it. At very least she wanted to kick it into the lake. Happy to see at least the staff worked well, and a wide stream of air was combing down the beach, she leaned back against the tree, waiting.

The crab was completely exposed and it looked up in panic, suddenly exploding out of the sand and scuttling as fast as it's small legs could carry it towards the water. But then it turned, and seemed to be charging straight for Lydia's feet, pincers opened and aimed at her feet or ankles. What a moody crab./

Lydia nearly laughed at the rediculus creature, even if its pinchers did sting as it rushed at her, its path obvious from out in he open. Jumping over it, Lydia aimed a kick at it, meaning to land it in the lake, though the fact it was moving fast made that difficult. She wondered what in the world would make the crab act in this way, and though it was ill tempered and anoying, she didn't have the heart to get out her dagger and try to run it through. After all, it was only a little crab.

The crab dodged the leg easily and it's eyes turned from their normal aqua blue to red, and suddenly it burrowed under again, then, within seconds, it emerged behind her. The only difference was.. now it was five feet tall and seven feet wide with random spikes coming out of it's back and legs. That's alright though, it's just a crab. (xD)

Lydia turned quickly around, her thoughts moving double-speed in her head as she was faced with the giant crab. Despite the fact she was in a pot of boiling water, Lydia could still see the humor in this situation, even if she wasn't laughing. She knew a way to kill the crab, if she could ever get on top of it, where she would be safe from claws anyway; Cut the eyes and mouth off the front of the crab. A part of her wanted to try to catch the creature, but she worried about saving her life first. Her staff slid back in its straps, while the other hand flew to her dagger, and Lydia ran as fast as she could around the animal, hoping that it, like its smaller relatives, had trouble moving directly forward and backward. As far as she saw, the best way to get out of this was to go a little way into the water, after that, she had a plan.

The crab watched her circle around it, and tried to comprehend what the human might be doing. He was not the smartest of creature's, so plans were a bit complex for him, so he just swung his massive pincher around towards her, trying to turn, but having a difficult time as he went side to side instead of backwards.

Easily ducking the clumsy path of the giant claw, Lydia made her way toward the waterline. Realizing that she needed her staff again, Lydia kept her dagger out, but her left hand grabbed her staff as she ran. As she reached the water, Lydia dove into the lake, making her way down under the surface. A big bubble of air and sand descended from the surface, summoned by her staff. The swirling air was breathable, and the swirling wind packed the sand in around her feet, moistened by a little water. In her pocket of air, Lydia ran over her plan. In the water, the crab wouldn't be able to manuver around in limbo. If he wanted to chase her, he'd have to walk on the sloping bank of the lake, and if not, she'd swim to the other side and be free. Wringing out what water she could in her cloths, Lydia waited, ready for a fight.

The crab watched her do magic with two large eyes, and then finally snapped out of his daze. He then came to the edge of the bank, not wanting to go in the water, and reached a pincer out towards her, trying to grab ahold of her somehow.

As the giant purple pincher of the giant crab pierced the outside of her bubble, swinging into the pocket of air, Lydia brought her dagger forward to stab at the claw though there was no real need. She had to do something when her hands were quivering with adrenalin.

The creature stared at a small crack in it's claw, and then looking infuriatingly back at her. Large spit bubbles were coming out of it's mouth as it glared, slashing random attacks at her, unable to see very well since the sand hand been kicked up in his eyes.

Lydia lifted her dagger, letting the twisted blade absorb two of the attacks, but when a third came lower, she couldn't dodge quickly enough, and the outside of the claw sent her sprawling backward. She broke out of the air bubble, staff and dagger still in hand as she rose toward the surface. As she surfaced, on the opposite side of where the bubble had been, she waved her staff, and a disk of sand was gathered, forced together by strong currents of air. Scrambling up, Lydia seated herself, fairly sure she was safe from the crab, but she had thought up another idea. Standing up on the disk of sand, wobbling in the strong wind despite her efforts to keep it away from her own form. Willing the wings to carry her forward on top of the water. She hovered just out of the crab's reach, dagger clutched tightly in her hand as she waited for the crab to take the bait.
