Krorr waited in his stall rather annoyed at teh fact hehad not caught anything, and landed himself with an apprentice. he had decided he would start her off with something simple, tedious, and boreing that every hunter spent a good percentage of his time doing. makeing, or repairing nets. For starters he just had a large roll of rope. if she showed competence in makeing the net, he would get her to use the last of it and make another on her own, if that too was decent he would move her on to wire nets. Then traps then wepons then useing wepons, and fianlly useing nets and traps. indeed it was a long, non-exciteing prospect but every hunter had to know alll this if they planned on being any good.

Lydia, looked down at the rope in mild intrest as they got to Krorr's stall in the marketplace. "Before I start the chores I must do," she said, taking in the general prospect of boring work as a given, "Is there any chance I can learn your name? I'm Lydia." Her eyes moved from the rope to around the stall in general, from the scorch marks on the wood to the traps half-hidden in the backround.

krorr smirked. "Im Krorr." He said simply as he droipped the rope on the counter of the stall it landed with a rather ominous thud and caused the pheonix in the back of his stall to stir slightly, but do nothing more. he brushed off a stool and handed it to her. "You'll be makeing nets to begin with, Im unfortunately going to ahve to show you." he said picking up the rope and bringing his own small stoll around to a free patch of grass before dropping the rope one it.

With an acepting nod at the prospect of the repetitive job, Lydia picked up the stoll handed to her, placing it beside Krorr's. In silence she perched upon it, head thingyed in mild curiosity, waiting to be instructed in the craft.
OoC: Eh, short post.

Sighing Krorr looped the rope around to nails that protruded from an old baord in the ground. "Now pay attenion, i won't show you twice." He said hand working with a practiced ease as he cut the ropes to the length he needed them to be and strung each over its own nail. "Now look carefully.." he said picking up the first strand and crossing it over the second ties in knot that consisted of a couple quick loops and a tuck. He continued this process until a whole row was done. Sighign he sraighnted up. "Got that? You alternate sides with each row and keep it tight but not to tight or the corners will scrunch inward. he said looking doawn at the start of the net. "And be sure when you tie those nots they dont come out looking like an 'A' you want 'V''s." He said, rather unhelpfully before waiting to see how she did.

Steps she needed steps to work something like this. She thought about what she had just witnessed. Step one, wrap the rope twice around the gage stick. Tie twice, slip loop off, and on nail. That would be the first in that chain of loops. Step two, pull down, wrapping around the opposite side of the loop. Three, pinch the area where the two crossed while you tied. Four, make sure what you just did didn’t look like an a. Then you just repeated that kind of loop knot process. With a nod of her head, and trying to keep in mind what Krorr had said, Lydia started, her hands moving painfully slowly, stopping at times as she thought, but performing the correct movements. She had to run the steps over in her head as she did them though, sometimes having to pause mid-movement to avoid making a mistake. She paused, looking up at Krorr for approval or chastisement.

krorr shrugged she was slow, yes, but most people always were when they started and she was keeping the rope a little losely but hey, he could manage with that. "very well keep it up." he said turning to go back to his stall and get an old trap working again.

Lydia knodded, placing her eyes back on her work, and moving her fingers through the steps again.... And again.... And again.... The work wasn't exactly easy at first, but it was somthing you could get used to. Lydia's fingers moved along the same patterns, andjusting to the repeitive task. She did refrain from asking for help though. Once or twice working out knots she thought she had made too loosly to tighten them again. She knew her work, even as she started her sixth row was slow, but she did not want to ruin her work by doing somthing stupid.
OoC: Hmmm... Want to do a little time fast-forwarding past rope nets or what? This could take a while on its own, but I'm ok with whatever. We could go on to the next step every other day or somthing too...

Krorr looked up from what he was doing to check her progress, by the time she was done her fingers would be sore. he thought to himself with a smile. "Call me when you finish that up!" he called across to her cheerily before returniung to work on the steel trap, which was slowly starting to move easily, with less rusty screeching.

"Ok then." Lydia called back, eyes fixed on the ever growing net of chains. Many rows and countless knots later, Lydia found herself looking down at raw red fingers. That hadn't happened in a while, she though mildy to herself, before sticking her hands in her pockets and standing up, ignoring the rather annoying ache. "Done!" She called happily, looking cheerfully at her work, which she was feeling rather proud of now all was done and said.

Krorr got up from where he had been dozeing with a yawn and silded over,. eyes running over the net. "Not to shaabby." He asaid cutting another lenght of rope and weaveing and knotting through the sides to re-inforce them. "Now, if you were paying atention to everything the whole way along..."He nodded at teh remaining rope. "You can make this next one a little bigger." He said with a smile as he picked up the newest net and headed to the stall again to hand it up. "Ill be sleeping.. call me when you finish!" He said ovr his shoulder, still remaining iritable.

With a sigh of annoyance at the thought of the pain on her fingers, Lydia took up the rope again, and started the tedious steps over again. The joints in her fingers felt like they were being slowly heated up in a frying pan, her fingers themselves smarted, and her teeth ground in her mouth. He was sleeping? Sleeping? Reminding herself the she had gotten herself into this, Lydia worked through row after row, reminding herself that this was one step closer, as she made this new net bigger than the last. Finally, with her neck aching from looking down at her work the whole time, Lydia stood, throwing down the end of the rope in relief. “Hey, I’m done again!” Lydia called, her voice tinged both with irritation and pride, before sticking her smarting fingers one by one in her mouth, then sticking her hands in her pockets. "Did that ever hurt!" Lydia commented with a lame, dull laugh, wondering when her fingers would get used to making nets.

Krorr once more emerged from the stall abiet a little more sleepily. Done eh?" Lets see he said and went to look at eh rope net. "Not bad..." he said before glanceing at her hidden fingers. "if you think they are sore now, wait till i make you use the wire. " He said and was sure to wave his hand cheerfully at her, showing off the though calloused skin, and dwarf skin was usually tough on its own. He picked up the new net and checked the deges once around befor haging it on the outside of the stall and pointing at he wire. "Exact same deal, you'll find that wires special, moves like rope, but it still bites at your skin. Feel free to start, almost all of that should go into this next net.. i want it really big for once. Oh and, whats left you can bring back to the stalll. Then you'll finally be done with nets." he said with a cheery smile before he made himself scarce again.

Never say done. Lydia thought to herself, there was always more. Picking up the wire, Lydia frowned, glad that at least this was the last of the nets. After beginning her work on the wore net, Lydia realized Krorr was right. Despite the fact that the wire bent easily under her sore fingers, it was hard, and willowy, cutting into Lydia's skin. As she worked, though her eyes stayed focused on the same repeating pattern, Lydia allowed herself to fall into the repetition of the work; now and again allowing her thoughts to drift. How did he know the wire bit worse than the rope? Her preoccupied mind asked. Reminding herself that he did not always have the skin her did, and he probably got it by doing just this, Lydia worked on, dimly calculating the growing number of rows. At long last, Lydia was holding in her left hand, (the right was bleeding sluggishly) her latest net. It was indeed the largest, and the one that had caused the most pain out of the three. With a wince, Lydia picked up what was left of the wire, and scuffled into the stall, dropping it behind the counter. "Hey Krorr," She called, looking around, "Wire net's finished!" This time there was no sense of pride, just relief. She was done with nets, for now at least.

Krorr yawned from where he had been watching the pheonix in the back cage and tunred around. "Fingers." He said getting up and moveing forward into the light. He picked up the extra wire and stuck it on a higher shelf.

Reluctantly, Lydia held out her hands palm up, looking down at them with disdain. Bother of her hands were bright red from the work, the tips of her fingers cut here and there by the wire. The cuts of her left had had all but closed, but on her right drops of blood still leaked out in little red trails . Assessing the work, Lydia said mildly, "What cuts I have are small and will wash up quick." Still, the annoyed scowl stayed on her lips, as she moved her hands to her pockets and looked up at Krorr, wondering what he had to say on the matter and why he cared what condition her fingers where in. Rubbing her ands off on the inside of her pockets, she leaned back on the inside of the door. "Plus," she added, more to comfort herself than anything, "My hands will get tougher soon."

Krorr chuckled t the damage, "Those are worse than mine when i first started, but ill admit dwarf skin is tougher than yours." Hesaid digging about in the back of the sheves for a moment. Finally, after standingon a stool to reach the upper shelves, he pulled down a small tin full of some kind of paste and chucked it at her. "That'll be sure yourhands don't stiffen up." He said yawning again. "Now, ill see you tommorow morning." he said casting a glance at the dark sky before dissapearing from sight into the bed beneath his counter. "If you need it theres a hammock around the back, y'might have to move some of the crates though." Came his voice, a little muffled it put one in mind of haveing his face half buried in the old pillow.

With a small smile, Lydia accepted the tin can, scooping out some of the strange paste onto her hand, making a face at the odd smell it gave off. "Thanks." She said shortly, looking out at the darkening sky. Time had indeed gone by, despite the fact it seemed to drag. Making her way to the back of the market, Lydia spotted the hammock. Pushing a few empty crates away with her feet, Lydia looked at the rope bed in hazy approval. The heat of the day felt as if it had cooked her brain, and her exhaustion was finally catching up with her. Grateful that she didn't have to walk the ten miles back to her house in the dark, Lydia was glad that the dwarf was less harsh than she had thought . Throwing her self down on the hammock, Lydia closed her eyes, and in a matter of minutes was asleep.

The next morning found dew clinging to the stall and the market slowly comeing to life once more. krorr was content to sit himself on a barrel just outside his stall and watch the goings on. He had the larger of the two rope nets tucked neatly up beside the barrel he sat on and merely waited for the would be hunter girl to awake. He was still wakeing up, steching now and then as he felt the soreness in his muscles from a few days ago.

Already slouched on one side of her hammock, when Lydia began her hours worth of moving around before she fully woke up, the hammock over balanced and tipped over, dumping Lydia to the dirt floor. Promptly wide awake, she started to laugh, brushing herself off and standing up as she looked about the waking market and stretched out her sore hands. Lydia was not what you'd call a morning bird, but in the first five minutes before she had fully gotten out of sleep, she was cheerier than normal. Slowly she made her way over to Krorr, not really wanting to be awake just yet, but not ready to go to sleep either. ""Hello," she said calmly to Krorr, running her fingers through her short black hair, "What's for breakfast? Or do I need to work first?"
